Wrigleys : Wrigley Pacific Sustainability Report 2010
12 PUTTING OUR PRINCIPLES INTO ACTION Wrigley is proud of the culture of Associate-led volunteerism that is so much a part of life here in the Pacific. Our Associates donate their own time and energy every year to organise and participate in a range of great fundraising activities, and Wrigley supports their efforts where possible by paying entry fees, providing team t-shirts and offering post-event catering. FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES Highlights of our Associates’ 2010 charitable fundraising activities include: • Three Wrigley teams entered one of the world’s toughest team challenges, walking 100km through the bush in under 48 hours on the Oxfam TrailWalker. Our teams raised over $13,600 to support Oxfam’s work around the world – and took out the top three team positions in the manufacturing category • 18 of our Associates took part in the Run for the Kids sponsored fun run to raise funds for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal, which raised $14.5 million in total • Wrigley raised over $6,500 for the Cancer Council through our Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea activities. Bake sales were staged, raffles were held, canteen takings for the day were donated, but the single biggest fundraiser was when two of our female Associates shaved their heads for the cause • ‘The Gongbusters’, a team of 25 Wrigley riders, took part in the 90km Sydney to the Gong MS Bike Ride, raising over $15,000 for sufferers of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and their families A culture of Associate-led volunteerism Oxfam TrailWalker
