$15,000 The amount raised by 25 Wrigley riders who took part in the Sydney to the Gong MS Bike Ride WRIGLEy PACIfIC SUSTAINAbILITy REPORT 2010 13 bringing the Mars Volunteer Program to New Zealand The Mars Volunteer Program is a global Associate-led program that allows us to put our corporate principles into action by having a positive impact on People, Planet, and Performance. During the month of October, our Associates engage in a range of volunteer activities around the world that aim to make a positive difference in the communities where we live and work. In October 2010, as part of the global Mars Volunteer Program, our Auckland team partnered with Auckland City Council to clean up their local Waiatarua Reserve. As New Zealand’s biggest urban wetland restoration project, the Waiatarua Reserve is a unique wetland area that includes a network of drains, weirs, bunds and sediment traps which function as a natural stormwater treatment system that removes pollutants from the local waterways. Our team of Associates provided 40 volunteer hours to mulch, weed and trim approximately 180 newly planted trees in the Reserve – protecting them from the impending summer heat. People
