Wrigleys : Wrigley Pacific Sustainability Report 2010
20 PUTTING OUR PRINCIPLES INTO ACTION Packaging and merchandising Since 2008, Wrigley has eliminated 2300 tonnes of packaging materials from global production, including a significant reduction in paper and plastic . We are committed to designing products that minimise our environmental impact , and working with sustainable suppliers wherever possible. Wrigley Pacific has been a signatory to the National Packaging Covenant since 2005. This voluntary commitment by government and industry is designed to minimise the environmental impac ts arising from the disposal of used packaging, conserve resources through better design and production processes and facilitate the reuse and recycling of used packaging materials. As part of our participation in the covenant , a major packaging reduction program has been rolled out across all of our sites. Today, the majorit y of our packaging materials are recyclable paper and cardboard.
