Every State Shed has implemented a formal waste separation program, so that the majority of unwanted materials are now recycled. 8-10yrs The working life of the new metal merchandising units WRIGLEy PACIfIC SUSTAINAbILITy REPORT 2010 21 Sales team reduces waste Our sales team have recently made several changes to their packaging and merchandising materials in an effort to reduce waste, including: • Removing significant amounts of plastic wrapping from our metal display equipment • Packing shelving together with shelf fronts to reduce the need for extra wrapping • Replacing foam and bubble wrap with cardboard inserts for counter units • Converting the entire range of small front end merchandising units to metal. These units now have an 8-10 year working life, lasting more than four times longer than the previous plastic format • Developing a robust design for independent merchandising units so that they have an 8-10 year working life Planet
